https://t4m.io rephrases your tweet as famous person would construct it. Here's it doing the #WordPress four freedoms as Hannibal Lecter: "Four freedoms essential to any open-source software: run, study, redistribute, modify. Eliminate these and you have enslavement. #FOSS #SoftwareLiberty"

Hey #WordPress folks on #Mastodon if you want your posts here to be considered for https://wpfront.page all you need to do is follow: @wpfrontpage It's a "bot" but hasn't gotten fully automatic yet. But the Mastodon posts you see on https:wpfrontpage are because that bot bookmarks them. π Traffic on the site has been good…

Grep (https://grep.app/search)- It's a search engine for half million #git repos. Works well enough that i found an old social handle of myself in test data sets in other people's apps!

I'm always looking to get my foot into other languages, even #JavaScript ones. Brief intro to #svelte: https://www.arpitjalan.com/blog/svelte

I'm getting "hitting rate limits" warnings and "rate limited: come back after X time" messages. I'm not sure why. I haven't posted much. A few of my recent posts went a little viral but I can't imagine that's it. Is phpc.social having issues? #mastodon

I got the @ivory desktop beta to test but it requires the LATEST version of MacOS. Argh. I have to decide if i want to upgrade to the latest (Venura). I honestly don't. I was hoping to wait until a few things (like the new settings redesign) got better. Decisions. Decisions. Wondering if @ivory when…

In reply to @davidbisset. No idea. PrivateBin wasn't on my radar, now is!

Is there an easy or straight forward way via #WordPress shortcode or PHP (outside editor) to embed a #Mastodon post that is "correctly sized" (an iframe w/ a set height isn't going to cut it which is what "embed" in my Mastodon web client does). This would be someone else's Mastodon posts taken from a…

#Twitter is still much more helpful when it comes to local or area news (natural disasters for instance). I feel it's nature/structure makes this a pro at the moment. Wouldn't mind seeing #Mastodon instances devoted to this type of information but even then discovery would be a bit problematic or just not as easy. π€

https://groundhog-day.com/ offering structured data (like it's an election) is impressive as it is tongue in cheek. #groundhogday

Trying out Jack Dorsey's new social network "Damus". Supposed to run on a "decentralized" network w/ no servers. Only an iOS app so far and it barely has any features (see my first post). So far main timeline looks like those into NFTs and crypto (although to be fair I can't read the non-english ones).…

Can't say for certain yet (because lack of full details) but if you: 1. Own or rely on #WordPress or any plugin that uses Twitter login or API to show tweets you should be paying attention to this. 2. If you use Twitter login on any site, you might want to change methods now. Of…

Congrats to #Gatsby for being acquired by #Netlify. From what I can tell this seems like a good thing. Reaction so far on social seems mostly positive. Would be interested to hear from those in Gatsby world. I tried it out, but couldn't get my feet that wet in it. https://www.gatsbyjs.com/blog/gatsby-is-joining-netlify/

I always enjoy Backblaze's annual "hard drive failure/drive stats" report. Such attention to detail and logging – and maybe adds a little into what hard drives I still buy for my backup system. https://www.backblaze.com/blog/backblaze-drive-stats-for-2022/ #hardrives

Finally started taking nature photos. Here's a picture of a bird in my neighborhood I encountered this morning.

What if Google existed in the 80s? π€ Sadly Google Search API shutdown prevented this from working fully but there's some cached searches. If you used a BBS worth a few minutes. https://elgoog.im/terminal/ #terminal

"The end of the timeline era" from Alan Jacobs: https://blog.ayjay.org/the-end-of-the-timeline-era/ I thought was a thoughtful brief perspective on that #Mastodon and #Twitter really AREN'T that different functionality. I agree to REALLY experience the web you need to get beyond "timelines". #RSS is a good start. Blogs (and blogging) is another.
