When you sit down on the toilet seat in the middle of the night…. it's warm… and you live alone.

In order for #Mastodon to succeed Twitter doesn't have to fail.
-
For some reading this on #Mastodon some of this might fall into "hard to swallow pills" meme territory but i'm mostly agreeing with @andy on most of on why #Mastodon although still superior long-term… is a little icky lately. https://andy-bell.co.uk/i-think-im-not-alone-that-mastodon-is-giving-me-the-ick/ It's mainly seeing how someone references "birdsite" and the "we are trying so much not…

More of these will keep coming, but here's a review of Video Tap – "automatically convert YouTube videos to blog posts". I don't see any reason why this couldn't be built into #WordPress but then… why limit yourself if you're the plugin author (trick would be to find a way where it's BETTER in WP).…

Lots of crap… er, I mean #WordPress news on https://wpfront.page this morning. I know it's my daughter's project too but might use this to document WP items more in the future then sharing everything on Twitter and Mastodon and having davidbisset.social suck those links up.

Productive day. So me and my daughter fixed two things with https://wpfront.page today: – There's now an RSS feed.– Moble table fixed for the #WordPress AI Plugin tracker (which will have a few more plugins added to it this weekend) https://wpfront.page/list/ai-plugins/

Brilliant. "In Defence of the Single Page Application" Worth a click. Won't spoil it. https://williamkennedy.ninja/javascript/2022/05/03/in-defence-of-the-single-page-application/

This week for the first time (and second, so twice) I used #ChatGPT (free version so i'm guessing v3.5) coding questions. Both times it got the returned requested function wrong… but after a little feedback from me it corrected both times. For Regex and complicated things dealing with recursion and arrays it definitely saved me…

In reply to @davidbisset. I’m more interested in replies than the poll. Because I could've added accessibility, performance, “cleaning up old tix” although I think these should be a part of ANY phase and not waiting years or even months. Why add AI? Wildcard. This is a couple years from now after all. Poll repeated…

Regarding web #privacy, interesting how web fingerprinting has gotten more accurate that you might have guessed. Here's an article testing all the major browsers and Tor: https://www.bitestring.com/posts/2023-03-19-web-fingerprinting-is-worse-than-I-thought.html

I know it's a tall order for a Saturday night but hey developers… If anyone has experience or knows of good tutorials that can show you how to integrate testing with https://buddy.works (I want to be able to run at first tests on PHP code, #WordPress standards, etc. as I push a branch to #Github)…

https://writeout.ai is an app built partly in #PHP that "transcribes and translates audio files using OpenAI's Whisper API." https://github.com/beyondcode/writeout.ai

Interesting. Kind of similar to #Mastodon but I think (at first glance anyway) more readable. Domain Names as Handles in #Bluesky: https://blueskyweb.xyz/blog/3-6-2023-domain-names-as-handles-in-bluesky I haven't gotten access yet but i want to give it a try.

I'm a Mac user but might finally try some #Linux.

This looks like this has promise: https://www.crul.com "Access, crawl, enrich, and clean data from anywhere to anywhere… Query any Webpage or API for free." Plans to #opensource but we'll see. Also here's more details: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34970917

https://t4m.io rephrases your tweet as famous person would construct it. Here's it doing the #WordPress four freedoms as Hannibal Lecter: "Four freedoms essential to any open-source software: run, study, redistribute, modify. Eliminate these and you have enslavement. #FOSS #SoftwareLiberty"

“Classless” #CSS libraries allow you to apply semantic HTML to apply a nice look. You apply no classes or any other selectors Here's one – Almond.css (looks nice). 👍🏻 https://blog.codepen.io/2023/02/23/classless-css-library-almond-css/

Hey #WordPress folks on #Mastodon if you want your posts here to be considered for https://wpfront.page all you need to do is follow: @wpfrontpage It's a "bot" but hasn't gotten fully automatic yet. But the Mastodon posts you see on https:wpfrontpage are because that bot bookmarks them. 🔖 Traffic on the site has been good…

Grep (https://grep.app/search)- It's a search engine for half million #git repos. Works well enough that i found an old social handle of myself in test data sets in other people's apps!
