"There is so much to learn." For me as a developer what side of this bus i'm on depends on my mood, others around me, my work environment, my drugs, my diet, the last episode of Star Trek Picard I watched, and a random throw of the dice.

What people on #Mastodon and #Bluesky say about each other (part 1). It's a past time to talk about other social networks on the social network you're on. 😄

In reply to @davidbisset. This is a meme, in real life I would say code quality from CodePilot is actually VERY good all things considered. Just don't copy and add things blindly without testing.

This #AI generated podcast recapping Hacker News is impressive and uncanny. I wouldn't be surprised if this results in more "daily few minutes of news" #podcasts / shows. https://hackernewsrecap.buzzsprout.com/2170103/12788441-may-4th-2023-google-s-ai-vulnerability-open-source-threat-is-real?t=0

Found out that next school year students in my area will be required to use CLEAR bookbags and backpacks year round. On a positive note I'm trying to see if someone makes a late 90’s iMac G3 themed backpack for my kids.

"#Mastodon Has Already Won" https://d-s.sh/2023/mastodon-has-already-won/ I agree with this here. Judge this community on merits like these vs what other social platforms (some of which are getting some attention, some of which aren't even at a 1.0 version) are doing.

Mastodon is currently the best social platform currently out there IMO. ActivityPub is gaining steam with more accounts every week. If you think "Enthusiasm for ActivityPub is being sucked out of the room" because of another social platform that isn't even built and open to the public… well it reads at best a knee-jerk reaction…

Interesting. Someone didn't like it when documentation uses the term "simply" and "it's easy" so much they made a site out of it: https://justsimply.dev/ It's actually a GOOD site too, and if you write docs or marketing it might be worth a look.

Want to be on a #WordPress 20th anniversary podcast? I've done two shows already w/ great folks like @sarahgooding @Jeffro @aurooba @heyjess and more. They will be out soon. I have an open spot for NEXT WEEK if you want to talk about YOUR top 3-4 WordPress moments on a 90 minute podcast w/ a…

I'm a big #BuddyPress fan and this is worth a read, even if you casually know of it as a #WordPress person. "BuddyPress has a new purpose" https://buddypress.org/2023/04/buddypress-has-a-new-purpose/

Apparently Angry #Mastodon has pivoted from complaining about #Twitter to putting down #BlueSky which hasn't even really gotten started. Let's focus on what's great and can be improved here in this community. </$0.02>

It's funny how over on Twitter there's a positive vibe about #Bluesky but almost completely opposite from what comments I've seen so far on #Mastodon. Not sure if people realize Bluesky is barely a private beta with almost no features (It's BuddyPress UI folks) or it's a kind of attitude that Mastodon has gotten noticed…

If you're on #bluesky i would like to follow you over there. https://staging.bsky.app/profile/davidbisset.com

"Notes to Self on #Mastodon" I was (still am to a degree) on a similar vibe to @jimniels on a few of Mastodon's weaknesses. Mainly that you lose content if you need to move from an instance (and that's assuming a good move – you in theory can lose more). https://blog.jim-nielsen.com/2023/notes-to-self-on-mastodon/

In reply to @davidbisset. This is mainly why I have https://davidbisset.social suck up my tweets and Mastodon posts. At least I can do a quick search of the things I share (which is why if i want to save it – i post it, not retweet or boost… because I don't get those sucked up).…
-
Unpopular opinion here but #Mastodon search and discovery at times as bad or worse then Twitter. I saw a post on another server that later I wanted to search for and my instance couldn't find it… i can't check out some posts from folks I stumble across unless I go to their servers. Browsers extensions…

Mastodon: "Ignore Twitter, we're doing our own thing." Also Mastodon: "Did you hear about what Twitter did today? Surely it's lights out for them now."

Thrilled that my daughter will be on the Torque Magazine podcast to talk #WordPress, youth, and what young people her age are doing in tech for their future. She's doing it live at 5pm ET but it will be recorded. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbC9YWNmEac

Twitter's use continues to lessen for me – but one exception is AI and GPT news. Not much talk and showing off on #Mastodon but using a Twitter list and search i'm seeing cool new stuff every day. So using Twitter less but more effectively is a win.

Based on my observations, these are the "overall negative generalizations" of the attitudes of current social network audiences. – Twitter thinks they're witter and more clever than you. – Mastodon thinks they're better than you (if you still use Twitter or weren't the first early adopters). – Instagram thinks they're better looking than you. –…
