There a fine line between cynical viewpoints and "calling it like how it is". Listening to others $0.02 (maybe they don't care for someone in a tech community or have gripes about latest tech trends) can expand your thinking and keep you honest.
They aren't 100% wrong either. But they complain almost 100% of the time.
I do the "would I hang around these people if i was at a conference after party" test. If ALL you do is complain then i'm enjoying my cold pizza around more upbuilding chatter.
