"I feel like I’m living WordPress Groundhog Day.

People bring up the same ideas, issues and perceived threats on a regular basis. I’ve heard it all repeatedly for the last 15+ years.

Meanwhile WordPress is very much still alive. Its death at the hands of Squarespace and Wix has yet to materialize and its lack of an App Store has yet to saddle it with regulatory burdens it would face in todays political climate that you’d never want it to deal with.

It’s aging UI? If you follow Gutenberg close enough. It’s very clear where WordPress is going. If you don’t think there is a vision and direction as far as that goes you aren’t paying close enough attention.

Could it that vision and direction be communicated more clearly? Sure. But then people would get bogged down in debating and arguing over it… meanwhile those working on it are just pushing forward.

Could it move at a quicker pace? Absolutely. But it is what it is. It’ll get there. You can’t move fast and break things when you have the sheer install base and marketshare that it has."
